Liverpool showed courage and determination to beat Everton in the Merseyside derby.
The Reds were under a lot of pressure in the first thirty-five munites of the first half as Everton looked to make their home advantage count.
However, Jurgen Klopp’s men were up for the derby as they gradually fought their way into the game. Towards the last ten-munites of the first-half Liverpool started stringing passes together and finished the first half better.
The second half was all about Liverpool, they moved the ball better, while Everton had lost their intensity and looked tired. The longer the game went on you could see the confidence growing in the Liverpool team.
Daniel Sturridge’s introduction as a substitute in the second half after a month out injured was instrumental in the goal. Sturridge’s shot from outside the box came off the post with Mané alert to tap the ball into the back of the net.
The Reds went into the derby with a lot of pressure, and to come out victorious as well as closing the gap on Chelsea show’s that Liverpool could still be title contenders come the end of the season.
