The Reds are being linked with Newcastle winger Andros Townsend. The former Tottenham man who just missed out on the England’s 23-man squad for the Euros in France, will be hoping to move to a Premier League club before the 2016/17 campaign starts.
Townsend is attracting interest from Liverpool, Manchester City, West Ham, Southampton and Crystal Palace, and it is understood that a bid in the region of £10.5m will be enough to prize him away from Newcastle United who were relegated last season.
According to the Daily Telegraph, 24-year-old Townsend has been recommended by Alex Inglethorpeis, Liverpool’s academy director who knows the England man from his time on the coaching staff at Tottenham.
Townsend would be a bargain at £10.5M, and if he has a reasonably good season that would be money well spent, furthermore it would be almost impossible to buy an England International for that price, with so much Premier League experience.
The question is would Townsend improve the current Liverpool squad?
