Mainz Goalkeeper Loris Karius is being linked with a move to Liverpool as competition for Simon Mignolet.
Karius had a spell at Manchester City academy before he joined Mainz in 2011. At 6’3, Karius has developed into Mainz first choice goalkeeper, keeping 10 clean sheets in 36 appearances.
Reports from Germany suggests that a few Premier League clubs have shown interest in 22-year-old Karius, who is valued at £8m, and Liverpool lead the race for his signature.
Liverpool FC have been linked with a few goalkeepers during this season, every time Simon Mignolet make a mistake or has a bad game Liverpool are linked with a replacement. Last week Liverpool were linked with Joe Hart of Man City.
It is obvious Liverpool need a top class goalkeeper or at least a keeper that would be strong competition for Mignolet and maybe push him to the next level. Mignolet has played 34 Premier League games and kept 11 clean sheets this season.
A good pre-season under Jurgen Klopp and we might see a different and more focused Simon Mignolet next season.
