Liverpool played their best game of the season by beating an undefeated Manchester City in the premier league and this is after losing one of their best players to Barcelona.
In what was a captivating and enjoyable game, Anfield was rocking when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain powerful strike from outside the box gave the Reds the lead. Just before the break Leroy Sane opened up the Liverpool defence and then rifled a shot past Karius to level the score at half-time.
At the start of the second half ManCity looked like they had the upper hand, however in what was an exceptional nine-minute spell around the hour mark, the Reds seemed to go up another gear and raced into a 4-1 lead thanks to strikes from Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
I always felt Liverpool had the beating of City and that’s not taking anything away from Pep Guardiola’s team. Today I thought they played a good game, but Liverpool’s hard‑running and hard-pressing style was going to be the key to beating City. The Reds thoroughly deserved the win, Klopp had a plan of how he wanted to play City and that plan was carried out nicely. Anfield was rocking today, with a great atmosphere and a fantastic game of football.
ManCity put Liverpool under a lot of pressure and threatened a comeback in the last ten minutes of the game with goals from Bernardo Silva and IIkay Gundogan. Victory belonged to the Reds as they went on to win 4-3 extending their unbeaten run to 18 games in all competitions.
With all the disappointment of losing Countiho, Klopp’s men have shown character and resilience to get all three points. Come on Liverpool.
