Speculation runs high with regards to which players are staying and which will be leaving Liverpool this summer. If you believe what you read in the press, as many as six first team players could be on their way out of Liverpool this summer.
One player that has constantly been linked with a move away from Anfield is Christian Benteke. The Liverpool striker has endured a difficult season at the club, after a £32.5m move from Aston Villa.
The Belgian striker like a few other Liverpool players would like to know if they still have a future at Anfield. It is obvious that manager Jurgen Klopp is going to add a few player to his squad for next season, the question is who’s position is under threat.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Benteke suggested that he would like to stay and prove himself at Liverpool, and would like to discuss his future with Jurgen Klopp.
“It was tough but I knew Liverpool was a massive club with a lot of pressure, with a lot of good players and it wasn’t easy but I keep going. I signed for five years, I didn’t sign for one year but now I have to speak with the manager and see his plan for next season,” said the 25-year-old striker to the Daily Mail.
“What gets said is between him and me but I want to see his plan for next season. I am not the only one who is going to do that.”
“I think it wasn’t my best season, but when I had my chance I scored important goals, I didn’t score goals in, like, 4-0s and 5-0s.”
He finished, “I think a lot of players want to know what is going to happen next season. We are only going to play one game a week so it is going to be tough.”
