Reports emanating from Portugal news outlet Correio da Manha suggests possible interest from Liverpool in Sporting Lisbon’s 22-year-old winger Gelson Martins.
The Portuguese international is pacey, a hand-full, with excellent technical skills and a joy to watch. Having watched Martins play for Sporting a couple of times this season, his an exciting player blessed with acceleration and dribbling abilities. Martins is a versatile player who works hard for the team as well as being able to play on either wing, but predominantly a right-winger who can also play as a right midfielder or a secondary striker.
According to reports, Liverpool are willing to offer Martins £80,000 a week which is five times more than his current wage. Klopp has said he is looking to add to the squad with the right players that will improve the team. There is no doubt Gelson Martins will be a quality addition. Since the departure of Philippe Coutinho the Reds have been linked with a host of player.
Martins has a release clause of £53m, for this transfer to be successful Liverpool will have to trigger the player release clause. Sporting Lisbon will do all they can to keep hold of their exciting winger.
